The Quest - Ryu's Journey Ch. 9 - Onslaught

Together, the two warriors charged the monster floating before them, battle aura's blazing, ki focused as tightly as possible.

Chun-Li jumped up into the air, and stared Onslaught in the eyes for a second.

Chun-Li: "Infinity Kicks!"

Onslaught staggered in midair. Ryu took advantage, deciding to try out his new attack.

Ryu: "Hadouken Beam!"

After getting hit by the attack, Onslaught stared at Ryu for a second.

Onslaught: Impressive...

Onslaught held out his hand, and four energy balls shot from it and surrounded Ryu, lifting him into the air.

Chun-Li: Oh no! Ryu!

Onslaught stared at Ryu for a second, as if he were perplexed somehow.

Onslaught: The energy you use is fascinating. Let's see how you handle this...

Onslaught held up his hand, and a thing blue beam shot from his palm. Ryu added extra power to his battle aura and used it as a means to block the blast. This had the added effect of freeing him from the energy balls that held him suspended in the air. Dropping to the ground, he released a Hadouken Beam, aiming it at Onslaught's eyes, hoping to blind the monster.

Onslaught vanished, the beam passing through the spot where he used to be and hitting nothing but air. Ryu looked around, trying to see where he went.

Chun-Li: "Ryu! Behind you!"

Ryu whirled, barely dodging the body of an incoming opponent. He managed to avoid getting knocked off his feet. Turning to face the person, he began superchaging his ki.

Ryu: I don't have time for this... "Who are you!?"

Venom: "You'r worst nightmare..."

Ryu: "I don't think so..." Time to try out those improvements I made...

Ryu's battle aura flashed and he charged the new adversary.

Ryu: "Tenka Ryuujin Bakuhatsu!"

Ryu charged at Venom, and punched him in the gut four times, each punch connecting with a flash of light. Then he brought his fist straight up into Venom's chin, sending him flying straight up.

Ryu jumped into the air, his fist held staight up. A vertical column of energy formed around him from the ground up and a blue dragon whirled around him, it's head at his fist. Ryu started spinning, hitting Venom in the jaw repeatedly about twelve times.

Ryu brought his arms together over his head and smashed them into Venom's skull, sending the block one flying straight down. Before Venom could hit the ground, however, he somehow found himself right next to Ryu again.

Electricity cackled around Ryu's foot and another vertical column of energy surrounded him from the ground up. He began to spin, kicking Venom over and over with his foot, traveling diagonally forward and upward. His foot connectied with Venom's body 24 times, each kick sending a blast of electricity through Venom's body.

Ryu grabbed Venom by the throat and, whipping around, threw him down to the ground, where he impacted with a huge explosion.

Ryu's body erupted into a huge ball of flame, and he charged down at the fallen Venom. As he charged, electricity began to crackle around the enourmous fireball.

Ryu slammed into Venom's body with the force of a freight train. Venom's scream split the air with it's intensity.

When the dust cleared, Ryu turned to face Onslaught, and gave him a challenging look.

Ryu: "Anything else?"

Onslaught didn't answer, but his visor suddenly started glowing.

Ryu: Uh oh...

Onslaught let loose with a beam of red energy that was as big as he was. Ryu screamed in pain and fell to the ground, bruised and bloodied. His battle aura had shielded him from the brunt of the attack, but it hadn't been enough. Ryu was barely conscious and he was so weak he couldn't move.

Chun-Li quickly came to his side and presse two fingers to his neck, feeling for a pulse. It was there, strong as ever, but it was obvious he couldn't move. Chun-Li gathered him up and leapt away, taking him away from the monster that had defeated him.

Onslaught: You're not going anywhere!

Chun-Li: Let's see you try and stop me...

Onslaught could see she had no intention of stopping. His visor glowed and he fired another huge red beam at the retreating pair.

Chun-Li heard something begind her, and she turned around just in time to see Onslaught fire off another gigantic laser beam.

Chun-Li: Oh no! It can't end like this...

Chun-Li braced herself for the end she knew was coming.

Just as the beam was about to hit her, a flash of gold and black registered in Chun-Li's vision, and the beam collided with something a few feet ahead of ehr. She gasped as she saw what it was.

The mysterious warrior had his arms crossed over his chest, and was blocking the blast with his gauntlets.

The mysterious warrior's gauntlets took on a golden glow from all the power they were absorbing. After thirty seconds, the entire blast was aborbed into them. He turned to Chun-Li and winked.

"I hope I'm not interrupting..."

Chun-Li: "On the contrary, you couldn't have picked a better time to show up."

The mysterious warrior nodded and turned back to Onslaught.

The mysterious warrior raised his arms up, palms open.

"Double Back!"

His gauntlets glowed, and each hand released a huge red beam back at Onslaught. The monster managed to block the double blasts, but when he brought his arms back down, he found himself looking into the steel gray eyes of the mysterious warrior.

"Blitzkrieg!"

The mysterious warrior began raining punches and kicks onto Onslaught's face, his loimbs moving so fast they actually created a sonic boom, his body trailing golden shadows. He kept up his nonsto assault for at least a minute before he stopped, and powered up for the next attack.

"Steel Tornado!"

A tornado formed around Onslaught, the power of the winds encasing him. The mysterious warrior snapped his fingers and pieces of razor-sharp steel shrapnel were teleported into the very midst of the cyclone, where they began slicing into Onslaught's armor, whittling it away bit by bit.

They mysterious warrior flew up and landed atop a building. He stood up tall and held his arms up above his head, palms open to the sky. His golden battle aura flashed into existence.

Cover me everyone!

Onslaught recovered and turned to face the mysterious warrior. His visor started glowing, but before he could finish, something slammed into him from behind.

Cyclops: "Optic Blast!"

Onslaught staggered.

Hulk: "Gamma Crusher!"

More warriors began appearing out of nowhere, and from everywhere. Onslaught quickly found himself being attacked from all sides. He didn't have enough time to recover between attacks. And the warriors just kept on coming...

"Terra Force!"

"Metal Wolf Claw!"

"Celestial Arrow!"

"Gate of Destiny!"

Onslaught slumped to one knee, no longer able to keep himself airborne under the force of the repeated attacks. His armor exploded, taking the monstrosity out of business.

For a few seconds all was calm. Then the warriors let out a yell of triumph. However, their celebration didn't last long.

A red laser beam blasted away a huge swath of land. All the warriors were sent flying. Those that managed to pick themselves up received the shock of their lives.

Onslaught was floating in midair directly above them. What was worse, he was at east four times bigger than before, and his power had trippled. They could all sense the energy floating from him. All the valiant warriors could feel their doom approaching them. They knew there was no way they could defeat this monster now.

The mysterious warrior, still standing atop a nearby building, decided now was the time.

I hope this technique of Goku's works...

The mysterious warrior brought his arms down with a flash. His battle aura seemed to explode with luminescence.

"Spirit Bomb!"

When the dust cleared, Onslaught was no more. Professor Xavier lay on the ground finally free of the armor. Cyclops slowly walked up to him.

Cyclops: "Professor?"

Xavier groaned in pain, but managed to look up at Cyclops.

Xavier: "Cyclops? What happened? Where am I?"

Cyclops smiled.

Cyclops: "It's a long story..."
