Street Fighter High School - Ryu & Sakura Story
By Kaze
"Mooouuu! I'm so bored, Kei!" Sakura yawned as she leaned back in her
seat, stretching her arms up high over her. Sakura and her friend Kei were
sitting in their classroom, eating their lunch despite it being such a sunny
day outside. Sakura didn't really feel like going outside as she rested her
head on her hands, gazing out there boredly.
"Saaa . . . Sakura, bored?" Kei feigned astonishment. "Has
the sky turned pink or something? Or is the world about to end?!"
"Ugh, don't mention that color, Kei." Sakura grimaced as she waved
off at her best friend. "It brings unpleasant thoughts to mind."
"Saaa, has Dan-sempai been bothering you to join his own Saikyo-Ryu
Karate Club again?" Kei looked at her friend in concern.
"Maaa . . . he's been pestering me too much, and most of his techniques
are pretty useless anyway. I'd rather stick with Gouken-sensei's Karate
club." Sakura muttered as she gazed out at the happily chirping birds.
"Has anyone in your class managed to master those 'ki' attacks
Gouken-sensei mentioned?" Kei asked teasingly.
"I have!" Sakura said proudly as she straightened up and held out
her cupped hands. A small whirl of blue energy formed above the palm of her
hands as she stood there, she finally letted it fade away when she couldn't
hold the concentration anymore. She turned to see Kei with an astonished look
on her face as her eyes nearly seemed to pop out. Sakura shrugged sheepishly.
"I've been meaning to show you, and when you mentioned the ki attacks, I
remembered!"
"Sugoi . . ." Kei whispered, then she smirked. "I bet
Dan-sempai can't do it!"
"Sempai can." Sakura muttered as she turned to the window again.
"Except that he does it with one hand and some small puff of ki pops out,
he never payed attention to how it was all supposed to work from
Gouken-sensei."
"Maaa, well, I hear Gouken-sensei mention that a pair of his best
students were going to transfer into our school!" Kei said, trying to
cheer her friend up, because Sakura had been excited at the thought of meeting
Gouken's other students.
"Hai hai . . ." Sakura muttered. "I just hope that they
aren't like Dan-sempai though."
In a park near Tokyo, a young man of the age of seventeen was walking in the
park donned in only a white karate gi, and a duffel bag hefted over his
shoulder. At the moment while people paid no mind to this weird-looking person,
thinking that perhaps he was coming home or going to karate class, they
wondered where his shoes had gone.
"Hmmm, shisho said to be at Tamagawa Minami Koukou." Ryu murmured,
and glanced over at his map of Tokyo. Nowhere on the map did he find anything
that went by that name, it being a high school and all. He decided to try and
ask someone as he went over to a large elderly gentleman. "Konnichia-wa,
ouji-sama, would you mind telling me where Tamagawa Minami Koukou is?"
"Mmmmm?" the elderly gentleman whom many of us would recognize as
Iwamano Raizo, director of Justice High School. He looked over at the youthful
face of Ryu as he adjusted his glasses for a moment. "Shouldn't you be in
school, young man?"
"Ah, gomen nasai ouji-sama, but I don't go to school." Ryu bowed
politely as opened his map before Raizo respectfully. "However I am trying
to find this school-"
"What are you doing? Trying to play hooky, young man?!" Raizo
shook his finger furiously at the stunned Ryu. "Why I'll have you know
that I am the director of Justice High School, one of the finest schools there
is! Such behavior from a student disgusts me! Which school are you from, boy? I
want to have a word with your director about you and your parents too!"
"Ummm . . . Ouji-sama, if you're the director of a school, then why
aren't you in school?" Ryu asked, confused.
Raizo froze, he was caught, by his own words as well before an ignorant
young man no less! He quickly grabbed Ryu's map and pulled out his pen as he
started scribbling in the directions to Tamagawa Minami Koukou. "Tamagawa
Minami Koukou, eh? I hear its a fine school! You must have gotten lost, that's
it! Oh, don't mind that part about me being the director of a school. Here,
from here, you take this path, then turn here . . ."
Ryu merely nodded as he paid close attention to the directions the frantic
old man was hastily giving him.
"Saaa, we've finally arrived." Ken said as he looked out through
the limousine door as it parked in front of the school. He looked over to the
person who would be going to school with him. "Are you sure you can handle
being here?"
"I'm not letting my eyes off of you, Mr. Masters." Eliza said in a
huff as she crossed her arms, wearing the fuku which was the school's current
uniform. Ken thought she looked awfully nice in it. "Who knows what would
happen if I'm not around? Some Oriental hussy catching your eye and next thing
I know, I'm one boyfriend less!"
"Oriental? You'd find that kinda rare here, Eliza." Ken chuckled
as he leaned back in his seat as he signaled the driver to find parking space
on the school ground. "Father enrolled us into Pacific High School, you
ought to be more comfortable here than in Tamagawa Minami Koukou."
"Really?" Eliza peered outside through the tinted windows of the
limo and saw that the majority of the students going into the building were
mostly non-Orientals.
"Plus, they ought to have a better bilingual course for you." Ken
smirked.
Eliza merely glared at him, remembering how Ken had rolled all over the
floor when Eliza attempted to speak a few words in Japanese.
"Class should be starting soon, sensei already knows we're at this
school, so we'll visit him after school." Ken opened the door to the limo,
receiving only a few glances as he stepped out in his uniform and held his hand
out to Eliza.
"Why thank you, Mr. Masters." Eliza smiled as she accepted the
hand, and pulled herself out of the limousine.
Hand in hand, the two walked to class.
"Hello, shisho, it has been a long time." Ryu bowed politely to
Gouken-sensei, who stood strong before him.
"No need to be so formal, Ryu." Gouken said gruffly as he patted
his student on the shoulder. "I have heard that you've made quite a name
for yourself already through the Street Fighting circuit."
"Hai." Ryu nodded, slightly blushing at his master's approval.
"I was about to enter yet another tournament before I received your
letter, but what did you wish to see me about?"
"Ryu, I've decided to continue your education." Gouken said
solemnly in his deep rumbling voice.
"Another technique from the Shotokan school?" Ryu's eyes lit up at
the thought of learning another technique. "What training will I have to
go through to gain this technique, shisho?"
"You will learn many things in this training, things which I have not
given you a chance to complete your learning in." Gouken said as Ryu
listened eagerly. "From this training, you will learn a great many
things."
"What training would I be going through, shisho?" Ryu asked
excitedly.
"I will have you enroll in school." Gouken said as he turned aside
to present Tamagawa Minami Koukou.
Ryu's jaw dropped and he looked at his master increduously.
"School?!"
"Yes, Ryu." Gouken nodded solemnly as he placed a big strong hand
on the young man's shoulder, squeezing it comfortingly. "School, you won't
disappoint me this time will you, Ryu? You WILL graduate after all the trouble
I went through in already enrolling, right?" The squeeze became just a tad
bit tighter.
"B-but shisho! The fight is all, right?" Ryu turned large tearful
eyes to his master. "I mean . . . fighting is all I have to know right?
Not all this other stuff involving people from decades ago, or numbers, or
stories that make me fall asleep . . ."
The hand squeezed just a tad bit too hard as Ryu's knees buckled and Gouken
merely stood there with his eyes closed and looking solemn.
"The training will be hard, my pupil, but I'm sure you can handle it!
Now get out there and make me proud!" Gouken roared that last part out as
he shoved Ryu forward towards the school.
Ryu, gi and all, ran screaming towards the school like he would face a
powerful demon with possibly no chance of winning as the tears poured from his
eyes.
"What the h*ll?!"
"Hey, what's that nutso doing?!"
*CRASH*
"Hey, watch it!"
*BOOM*
"Oooooowwwww!"
"Hey you! Get back here!"
"No running in the halls!"
"Hey, watch out for that-"
*CRASH*
"-wall!"
"Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh . . ." Ryu groaned as he lay twitching there
spread-eagle. In the midst of his pain, he barely noticed the crowd that
encircled him. Moments ticked by before the familiar large form of
Gouken-sensei in his gi overshadowed his body lying upon the ground. He felt
Gouken-sensei's strong arms lift him and shake him as tears poured down the
older man's face in joy.
"I knew you could do it, Ryu!" Gouken cried happily as he shook
him. "You've completed the first step all on your own! I had to literally
drag Dan into this school, but YOU! YOU came charging in like a raging dragon!
And you've succeeded! Boy, you make your master proud!"
"H-hai!" Ryu said shakily in the midst of Gouken's shaking arms,
tears of joy pouring down his own eyes as well, happy to have pleased his
master.
"Now let's go and get you into your battle gear." Gouken said as
he grabbed hold of Ryu by the neck and dragged with Ryu's legs sliding across
the floor behind him, marching proudly onward for his student.
"What a weirdo . . ." Kei muttered as she watched the young man be
dragged away by Gouken-sensei. "Coming in running and hollering like
that!"
"He's kinda cute." Sakura murmured as she gazed at him, having
caught a glimpse of his face.
"What did you say, Sakura?" Kei turned to her friend, having only
heard her friend muttering about something.
Sakura blushed. "Nothing."
Kei merely shrugged as the two began walking to their lockers again before
the crazed yelling man barged in through the front door. Sakura absently
wondered if that was one of Gouken-sensei's students, if he were, then he was
alot more brave than Dan had been. She heard that Gouken-sensei himself had to
literally drag Dan to school for several weeks before Dan started to come on
his own. Reluctantly of course, but he had unfortunately also brought his ego
along and with the director's permission and Gouken's protests, Dan had formed
his own Karate Club with its own followers.
Saikyo-Ryu Karate, the name made Sakura wince, it sounded great, but Sakura
didn't really want to think about what Dan emphasized in his Karate.
"Sensei, this uniform is a bit too tight around the shoulders, and
baggy around the waist." Ryu muttered as he felt around in his school
uniform.
"No matter, boy!" Gouken clapped his hand down on Ryu's shoulder,
hard. "Just stand tall and proud at the great accomplishment you have just
made, the great leap from the Fight to the Education."
"The Education is all . . . the Education is all . . ." Ryu
chanted the new Way to himself repeatedly. He then procreeded to adjust the
collar of his jacket and then the cuffs as he looked with fixed eyes towards
the door out from the room which Gouken had changed his clothes.
"Like your duffel bag had been all you needed for the Fight, THIS will
be all you need for the Education." Gouken said solemnly as he handed Ryu
his schoolbag. "Now get out there, and show me your best, Ryu!"
"Hai, sensei!" Ryu said loudly as he slapped his arms to his sides
and bowed curtly before Gouken before he rushed to the door with a loud
battlecry. "HIIIIIYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAA-!"
*BAM*
"Hunnnhhh . . . open the door next time, Ryu." Gouken sighed as
Ryu's head was filled with spinning images of Ken shoryukening around his head.
"Well, Eliza, what do you think of Pacific High School so far?"
Ken asked as he eased himself into a seat before his girlfriend with his lunch.
"Its been good." Eliza replied as she picked a small piece of
salad and chewed on it for five minutes.
Ken merely gobbled his hamburger up in that time.
"Ken Masters! You should learn to eat more properly!" Eliza chided
him as she worked on a small slice of tomato now.
"If eating like you is eating properly . . ." Ken deadpanned as he
waited for Eliza to finish her slice of tomato for her to reply.
"All the other girls are eating at the same pace as me." Eliza
sniffed as she started on a cucumber now.
Ken looked around, and sure enough, many other girls were eating like Eliza
were, their male friends or boyfriends sitting there with their heads in their
hands at the despair which they were in.
"No wonder the lunch period takes two hours." Ken muttered as he
patiently sat there with his girlfriend as he tried to eat the last of his food
as slowly as he could so he would not end up with his head in his hands as
well.
Ryu glanced around himself nervously at all the social groups who had
gathered together into their own groups in the classroom. Opening up his large
brown paper bag, Ryu took out a large meat bun he had received from the
delivery truck and chomped on it. Not paying much mind to the whispers which
abounded in the room, Ryu merely glanced outside at the brightly shining sun in
the azure sky.
"OSHA!" a voice shouted, startling Ryu from his peaceful thoughts,
despite the unfamiliar 'training' which Gouken was putting him through.
"He's here too?" Ryu murmured as he glanced over at the doorway
into the halls, none of the other students seemed to have taken much notice of
the situation however.
"Who's the best? Who's the best I tell you!" the voice shouted
again, and a vision of pink flooded before Ryu's eyes as sweat began to gather
at his forehead beneathe the white bandanna he was wearing.
"It can't be . . ." Ryu muttered.
"It's Dan Hibiki! OSHA!" the voice affirmed the identity which had
been at the tip of Ryu's thoughts, due to his need to push it back.
"YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAA, DAN! OOOOOOOOSSSSSSHHHHHHAAAAAA!" a group of
strange looking people chanted as Dan and his 'group' passed by Ryu's homeroom
class. Ryu blinked at this, for some reason, each student had to have some
strip of pink clothing upon them or their hair was pink.
Ryu rubbed the bridge of his nose as he wondered how something that was just
simply funny had gotten so very out of hand. Dan merely had a red gi
originally, like Ken's own. Then the terrible had happened, to Dan at least, he
putted too much bleach in his gi.
It was his only one too . . .
"OYAJI!!!!!" Dan wailed with his arms high into the air, wearing
the blue uniform of the school, but the standard white shirt was replaced by a
PINK?! shirt.
Ryu shrugged and ate his lunch.
Sakura chatted with a few of her friends, ignoring Dan and his followers'
outbursts. It was quite frightening in a way, almost like some kinda cult or
something. It was said that one student had grown so sick and tired of it, he
had been willing to jump out of the window when Dan and his followers were
coming by and there was no place to go. They also said he had once been an
admirer of Dan before the cult began, now he was a writer. (Heheh, sorry, I
just found that kinda funny for some reason. Don't mind me, I wouldn't really
jump out the window like that. ^_^)
Sakura leaned back when she had all she could take of her friends going on
and on and on about clothes, the latest shoujo, and the latest in idol singing.
Sakura shook her head sadly, it was almost like another cult this one was. She
considered her options at listening to Dan's cult rant on and on about his
greatness, compared to listening to her friends rant on and on about the latest
young star. Sakura decided to chance her friends, at least some of the stars
they drooled over were sometimes action movie stars.
Taking a glance around, she noticed the person who had run barging and
screaming into school earlier that morning. Instead of the bright white gi he
had on earlier however, he was wearing the boys' school uniform of Tamagawa
Minami Koukou. He was a fighter, obviously (the gi gave it away), but that
didn't matter as much as the fact that he was also one of Gouken-sensei's most
prized students! Sakura's eyebrows furrowed when she realized there was
something familiar about him.
Sakura's eyes widened to the size of teacups (ouch) when she spotted the
white bandanna he was wearing around his forehead. Taking in his features
carefully, and adding in that white gi again, Sakura suddenly gave a loud
squeal (double ouch).
"What's wrong, Sakura?" Kei asked, rubbing her ears like the rest
of her friends as they glanced at Sakura as if she'd gone nuts.
"It'shim! It'shim! It'shim! It'shim!" Sakura stood up and pointed
rapidly at the window where Ryu was obliviously eating his bread. She took in a
deep breathe and screamed. "IT'S HIM!"
"Who? Who? Who?" her friends asked.
"D*mn, my ears are ringing . . ."
Sakura grabbed her backpack and pulled out a magazine for her friends to
see, and opened it to a page which showed a man in a white karate gi looking at
the camera in surprise as he was in the midst of stuffing rice into his mouth.
Other smaller pictures showed him facing various opponents, the title of the
article read, 'New King of Street Fighters.'
"Oh no, not HIM!" Kei rolled her eyes heavenward.
"Hey, he's kinda cute."
"Looks pretty d*mn hungry eating that rice though."
"But hey, check out those pecs!"
"Sakura, what do you mean by 'it's him'." Kei asked her friend
curiously as she looked up from the magazine. "You think a champion street
fighter would come to our school?"
But Sakura was already gone as she ran rapidly into the school with her
sneakers skidding on the floor as she made sharp dangerous turns. Elbowing her
sempais, senseis, and everything else that could start with an 's', Sakura left
behind a destructive trail of befuddled people and papers scattered about on
the floor.
"Heh . . . heh . . . heh . . ." Sakura panted as she leaned
heavily against the doorframe of the senior classroom where she was sure her
idol would be at. "I . . . finally . . . found . . . you!"
The various boys urinating in the urination stands sweatdropped as they
glanced over at the strangely panting girl leaning against the doorframe of
their bathroom.
Sakura turned bright red when she finally realized her mistake.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! GOMEN!" she shouted as she leaped back and
slammed the door shut with her all her might as she ran off again to find the
classromm her idol should be.
A few moments later, a student tried to open the door, and found that he
couldn't.
"Um, guys . . ." he sweatdropped as he attempted to push against
the door, then he stepped back and saw the damage that had been done upon the
doorknob.
"It shouldn't be so bad . . ." an optimistic young man said
helpfully. "We have an excuse not to get to class anytime soon now."
Then they started hearing plunking sounds in a nearby toilet, and a young
man sighing in relief. "Aaaahhh, knew I shouldn't have eaten all those
bean curds . . ."
There was no room for optimism now, much less any room to get away from the
smell!
"Oh god! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" the boys in the bathroom cried
as they banged on the door for escape.
"Sempai! I finally found you!" Sakura shouted for the third time,
this time SURE that she had found the right room. "Urk!" Sakura
blushed deeply as she slammed the door shut behind her. She steadied her
heartbeat and whispered in disbelief. "Isn't that sort of interaction
against the rules?" (Yes, for those who have dirty lil minds like me,
that's what she saw. For those of you who DON'T have dirty minds, um, yes, its
whatever you thought it was.)
Sakura trudged dejectedly along the halls, certain that she had lost her
idol. She bumped into someone in her downward trudge, landing her on the floor
and rubbing her forehead at hitting one of the jacket buttons of the school's
uniform.
"Ah, gome-!" when Sakura glanced up, her eyes widened in disbelief
and then turned into brightly sparkling glitterings of stars within them
(yeouch). "I finally found you, SEEEEMMMMMPPPPPAAAAAII!" Sakura
hopped up and hugged her idol tightly around the waist.
"Eh?" Ryu sweated as he looked down at the short mane of hair of
the cute girl with a bandanna around her head hugging him tightly around the
waist. He didn't really know what to do at the moment. Worse yet, this was a
bad situation for him to be stopping in the middle of the halls being hugged extremely
tight by an energetic young schoolgirl. "Um, excuse me, but . . ."
"Yes, sempai?" Sakura said softly as she rubbed her cheek against
his chest. She imagined the destined words of love that he would lay upon her,
words of ever-devotion to her, though that may not come true at the moment, he
would ask her her name and she would give it and all that. Sakura mentally
slapped her head, she had to stop watching those shoujos with Kei, they really
brought weird stuff into her head.
"I need to go to the bathroom and p*ss." Ryu mumbled, his face
scrunched up tight from the pain of one obviously holding it.
Sakura quickly letted go and Ryu rushed to the nearest bathroom, which JUST
happened to be the one Sakura locked.
"I'd say the day's gone by pretty well, right?" Ken smiled as he
escorted Eliza at his side, arm in arm, to the waiting limousine with chaffeur
standing at the ready besides the passenger door.
"I guess so, but do we really have to go to this other school right
now?" Eliza pouted. She wanted to go with the other girls and talk about
the latest in fashion, teen idols, and all that stuff that teenage girls
stereotypically found as a must in their very daily lives. (Ladies, please
don't kill me . . . @.@ *SOB* If I die, who would take care of my pet turtle?)
"I made a promise to Gouken-sensei, just like I made a promise to
you." Ken said firmly as he led her into the limousine. "Besides, you
should check out some more of the sights around here."
"Oh, alright." Eliza smiled as she seated herself before Ken eased
himself right next to her. "So, tell me, why did your master ask you to
come back to Japan anyway?"
Ken shrugged and smiled. "Must be some more training I guess, but at
least I get to see my good pal Ryu again. If there's training, Ryu's bound to
be around."
"Aaaah, that felt MUCH better." E. Honda grinned as he patted his
large belly as he exited from the toilet with a big flush. He looked over to
the window and found many of his fellow students taking turns to see who could
stick their necks out farthest, while those who waited looked quite ill.
E. Honda shrugged at the strangeness of it all as he sauntered over towards
the exit. He frowned when the doorknob would not turn nor would the door budge
from its place. E. Honda did not feel like being late for class, so he stepped
back slowly and formally bowed to the door. Resting his hands at his waist, he
crouched down low as he peered at his opponent. He raised his right leg at his
side and stomped down upon the ground with a loud rumbling shake.
His fellow students in the bathroom stared in awe as they watched their
champion school sumo wrestler ready himself to smash down what they looked upon
as a seeminly invincible foe. E. Honda raised his left leg and brought it down
with another loud boom, then he tensed his muscles . . .
Ryu was curled up into a fetal position on the ground at the side of the
door to the boys' bathroom, trying very desperately to think of an alternative
plan to his dilemna. Sakura merely looked at her idol in worry as she dabbed at
his sweaty forehead with a wet towel.
*BOOOOM*
"DOOOOO-KIYA!" E. Honda shouted with his large beefy hand
outstretched before him in the midst of the settling dust and debris.
*Ziiiiipppp!*
With that, Ryu zipped into the bathroom and did his thing.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . ." Ryu sighed gratefully.
Once he was done however, he wrinkled his nose at something that didn't smell
quite right . . .
*Ziiiiipppp!*
And he was gone.
From the bathroom anyway.
