Of Love, Honour and Revenge Ch. 28
By Matt Lawson
Cammy crawled through seven hundred yards of
sh**-smelling-foulness-no-one-can-even-imagine, or maybe they just don't want
to.
Seven hundred yards, the length of seven football fields, more than half a
mile.
She crawled and slipped through the inky black river of sewage with the
FAMAS rifle strapped tightly to her back, the oxygen mask battling fiercely to
keep the smell from going up her nostrils, and sometimes failing to do so. It
made Cammy feel so nauseous, she almost felt like she wanted to throw up. Only
her training as an MI6 agent stopped her from doing so.
Crawling through a river of sh**, just to get inside a sh**-house. I hate
times like these.
She was lucky she was wearing the swimsuit, which she would discard later.
The smell would attract Shadowloo agents to her like a magnet. Not only that,
she would have to take several jokes from Chun Li. She swore to keep this whole
thing a secret.
It took her nearly three hours to finally crawl underneath the temple. She
at last reached a manhole cover, and stopped to listen out for any noise that
would alert her to any enemies nearby. She couldn't find any. Satisfied, she
pushed the manhole cover up and crawled out of the tunnel. She unstrapped the
FAMAS, ripped off the swimsuit and flung it back into the sewer.
She held her FAMAS in both hands and looked in the room she was in. It was a
maintenance room, an entry point for the unfortunate souls who picked cleaning
duty to clear out the sewage drain if it was ever blocked. There was only a
door in front of her, the only path she could take.
She heard footsteps coming down the hall. She ran to one of the door's
sides, and put her back against the wall. The door opened, and a man wearing a
Shadowloo uniform with the sleeves rolled up and a gas mask walked into the
door, carrying several different types of plumbing equipment.
"Sh**. I hate doing sewage duty. One mere mention of a blockage and
they send me to….."
He never finished his sentence. Immediately, as he took a few steps towards
the manhole, Cammy closed the door, grabbed the man from behind with her arm
round her head, and gave a sharp twist to his neck. It broke with a dull crack.
Cammy slowly dropped the body to the floor, and pushed him into the sewage
pipe. She prepared her FAMAS, opened the door, glanced down both ends of the
corridor, then made her way down the right hand side.
Back outside, Blanka watched as a body covered in the blackness of the raw
sewage was pushed out of the pipe and fell into the water. He chuckled in his
own animalistic way.
Guile addressed the men in the hanger. The several dozen pilots took their
seats and listened as he laid the battle plan.
"Alright men, listen up. Consider yourselves on ground alert. If we
receive launch authority, your mission is the complete thermal destruction of
the area around here."
He pointed towards the map, at the location where Cammy set her target
beacon.
"The entire area is to be blanketed, not one square inch missed.
Approximately 200 hostages and a large number of Shadowloo agents will lose
their lives in this air strike."
There was a quiet murmuring around the pilots. Guile knew that they were
seriously having doubts as to the morality of this attack, but they knew they
had no other choice.
"If we encounter any resistance on our way towards the target, we are
to engage as necessary. I don't want any suicide runs here. We are going to be
part of an attack against possibly the biggest threat against the world we have
ever had to face, worse even than an *ssh*le called Hitler. If we fail here,
then God help us."
He formed a salute. The other pilots stood up and returned the salute.
"Man your stations, and good hunting."
As the pilots dismissed themselves towards their planes, Charlie flung a
flight helmet into Guile's chest. Guile managed to catch it successfully.
Charlie grinned.
"Let's kick the tires, and light the fires, Big Daddy."
Dan sat at his desk, twirling the pen around his fingers, thinking about his
chances.
Bison was mad, it was clear to him now. Not just a madman, but clearly out
of his mind. He was holding the entire world to ransom, ready to kill innocent
people without any form of remorse whatsoever. And Dan was going to be part of
it.
Not for the first time, he asked himself why he was even here.
Why him?
He wasn't cut out for these attacks on innocent civilians. His conscience
would have been bugging him, and he would be such a disgrace to his long-dead
father.
The only reason he could think of was that he was here because of the chance
of his revenge against Sagat, and now that was beginning to bug him. He was
turning into the man he wanted to kill, and he didn't like that.
He threw the pen into the opposite wall in anger. It bounced off and
scuttled across the floor.
He didn't want to be a part of this anymore, to be involved in ruining
millions of lives just to please his own selfish gain. He decided that he had
enough.
"Ah, to h*ll with this."
He got up, readied himself for what was going to happen, and walked towards
the dungeon.
On Air Force One, President Bill Clinton stood looking through the window,
looking over the city of Washington D.C.. In the distance, he could see the
smoking ruins of what had once been the White House. It saddened him to think
that he was the last President to ever set foot in that famous American
landmark, so close to the end of his term as President.
The plane wasn't going to stop at Washington, it was en route to New York to
pick up his wife and daughter. He wanted to make sure they were as far away
from harm as possible, Shadowloo's threat was far too serious to leave them
there. Despite all the problems he had with the cases he had been involved in,
like the Monica Lewinsky case, he still remained so close to his wife, even
though they had made an uneasy peace.
"Mr. President," a man spoke behind him, "We need a
decision."
The President was unmoving, still staring out of the window. He was about to
make a call that could either save the lives of billions, or end up killing
them altogether.
"These past few hours have been the darkest days of my life. How does
one weigh human life?"
He put the coffee he was holding down onto the cup holder on the seat's
arm-rest.
"Billions of innocent civilians against two hundred or so hostages. And
in the middle, M. Bison. That we have ignored, abandoned or marginalized a
dangerous enemy like Bison and Shadowloo, and that American people have paid
for that neglect in blood is equally real, and equally tragic.
We are at war with terror. And fighting war means casualties. This is the
worst call I have ever had to make."
He picked up the phone nearby.
"Air strike approved."
In El Toro, Ken sat quietly as dozens of fighter jets took off to complete
their now authorized mission. He put a hand to his face, waiting.
"With the amount of firepower they're taking out there, it will be over
in a few minutes."
The general's news hit him hard. Now Ryu was going to die by his own
country's hands, and there was nothing he could do.
Cammy sneaked in through several corridors with few hiding places to avoid
detection from anything, whether it was a guard, or a CCTV camera.
Nevertheless, her training enabled her to access every available option open to
her to complete her mission.
Several hours, and several dead Shadowloo agents, later, Cammy neared the
dungeon area. She reached a corner, making sure there was no-one behind her,
she turned her head around the corner, then jerked it back as he saw three
Shdowloo agents walking towards the cells, where one guard was standing. She
stood at the wall, listening to what they were saying.
"Hey, now that we're off duty, how about some fun?"
"You mean the two pretty girls in there?"
"Yeah, which one should we go for?"
"How about that pretty Chinese lady? She looks ripe."
"No f***in' way! You know who she is? She's killed and arrested dozens
of our men. Besides, she's got that seven foot guy with the eyepatch."
"So?"
"Let's go for the schoolgirl, she's alone and weak. She won't do
anything."
"Yeah, good idea. Hey you, you stand watch while we have our fun."
"Yes sir!"
Cammy heard one of the cell doors open, then close. It was then followed by
high-pitched screaming. Cammy knew what they meant by 'fun'.
Anger and rage swelled up in Cammy. Flashbacks of her past life, her being
raped by the Shadowloo scientist and Vega, entered her mind. Her breathing
became heavy. She had to do something now.
Cammy couldn't shoot her way past, the noise would attract attention. She
had to use something else. She decided to use her body.
Cammy walked out of the corner and moved towards the lone guard in the
sexiest walk she had. She walked towards him like a model on a catwalk, talking
in her sexiest voice. Her pigtailed hair swept behind her.
"Hi."
The guard raised his gun and aimed it at her. "Freeze!"
Cammy continued to walk towards him slowly. The guard still held his gun at
her.
"I said don't move!"
The guard fired a small burst at Cammy's feet. It sparked as it hit the
floor, and it stopped Cammy in her tracks.
"What are you doing? I'm hot for you!" Cammy said, stunned.
"Sure you are, b*tch, but I don't give a sh**. You will lie on the
floor now!"
D*mn, Cammy thought, this isn't supposed to happen. Usually they drop
everything at the sight of a lady.
"What's going on here?"
Cammy stared in horror as another man stepped into the picture. He was
wearing a pink gi, and had a small ponytail on the back of his head.
The guard, still pointing the gun at her, replied.
"Sir, I just captured a spy, sir."
"Really?"
Cammy was helpless. The screaming inside the prison cell that the other
Shadowloo agents had entered echoed around the whole dungeon, and there was
nothing she could do to stop it.
She was trapped.
