For the Fight Ch. 12
By RC

Chun Li assumed her fighting stance and looked across the gap to where her opponent was standing. Chin seemed to think this guy was hot stuff.

She smiled to herself.

She'd show them hot stuff.

She waited for him to attack, but he didn't make one move. He didn't even seem to be in any fighting stance. He was just standing there with his hands at his sides and his feet slightly spread.

*Well, maybe I can catch him of guard*

She dashed in with a vicious flipping axe kick and she was surprised when it completely missed.

*Where*

She was taken off her feet quickly from behind, but she was able to twist and land on her feet.

She tried a series of quick jabs, but all were blocked soundly and once again she was taken off her feet.

She twisted again in mid fall and managed to land on her feet again, but before she could retaliate a swift side-kick hit her in the abdomen and she went down, this time on her back.

She cursed to herself as she rolled away and stood up.

It was the first time she had really gotten a good glimpse of him since it had started. He was bobbing lightly on the balls of his feet awaiting her to attack again.

She grit her teeth and approached him slowly. She faked a jab, but he didn't fall for it at all. She faked a snap-kick and followed with an elbow that he ducked under. Once again he hadn't fallen for her fake and he'd been able to duck the elbow she's sent at his throat.

Once again she was swept of her feet and found herself on her backside.

She was getting angry.

*D*mn it! He hasn't really hit me since this has started, and I'm still getting beat.*

She flung out her leg and managed to knick Ryu in the knee. She saw him wince slightly and spun on the ground snapping out a low kick to his ankle. She caught him with it and he was off balance for a split-second.

*Try this on for size*

"TENSHO KYAKU!!"

The rising moutain kick(That is what it is called isn't it?)struck him squarely in the abdomen twice, the chest once, and the jaw of her opponent before it ended.

She watched him as she came down and was surprised at the cat-like twist he executed to land on his feet.

*Sh**...*

He landed before her and was prepared to take the fight to the next level. Twin side-kicks hit her in the hip and collar bone. She winced at the bruising impact and felt his follow up spinning side-kick nail her in the ribs.

She staggered and he leaped in with a left and right to her abdomen. She lost her breath and he threw her hard over his shoulder.

She wasn't able to land well and fell on her upper back.

She rolled out of the way of his stomp and twisted the foot so he fell. Amazingly he whirled as he fell and his heel caught her in the face.

She rolled away in pain and cursed.

She charged him blindly and stomped into his stomach. It was like kicking a rock, but she flipped off that foot and executed a flip-kick that nailed her advercary in the jaw.

She landed on one knee and dashed foward before executing her favorite technique.

It was called the Spinning Bird Kick and she had never failed to knock someone out with it before.

Until now.

She heard a growl of Japanese and was then rocked by four kicks from a technique that reminded her of a right side up Spinning Bird Kick.

Ryu knocked her down hard with the Hurricane Kick. He had almost been taken out with her last technique, but was able to spin into his technique before she had reached him.

He would have expected a knockout, but being upside down she had taken the hits in the stomach instead of on the head.

He waited for a moment as she started to rise and then got back into his fighting stance.

Chun Li was in pain. She couldn't get any air because of all the hard body shots she had just taken. She wasn't going to win unless she used her best technique.

She saw him bear down on her and at the last possible moment she executed a flip over him. As Ryu turned she executed a flawless jump-turning roundhouse that smashed into his face, backing him up.

*GOTCHA*

"SENRETSU KYAKU!!!!"

She felt the first few batter him around like a pin ball, but then he somehow managed to get his hands up. She tried to pour on some steam, but then he screamed.

"SHORYUKEN!!"

The leaping uppercutt caught her squarely in the stomach and lifted her a good twelve feet off the ground.

As she felt her vision waver she thought,*At least the cieling is high*

The crash to the floor woke her up and she somehow gained her feet.

She couldn't let this guy beat her. Not only would she let down her friends, but it would mean that she was nowhere near ready to go after Bison.

She jumped up and raised her hands over her head. She couldn't do it properly yet, but it might just be enough to knock him out.

She had been taught the basics of the Kikoken by her father. She hoped the power would come to her now.

Ryu saw what she intended. She wasn't able to actually project her chi yet, but she probably could hit him with a lesser form.

He had something to go up against that.

"HADOUKEN!!"

Chun Li saw a flash of blue and then nothing.

The spectators around the battle ground gasped as the fireball hit her. She was sent through the wall and out the other side into someone's office.

She crashed through the desk and moaned. She had never been hit so hard in her life.

*I'll kill him*

"Inspector! What is the meaning of this!?"

She swivled from her grounded position and cursed silently.

"I..."

"I don't care what the excuse is!" he bellowed at her.

"I want you in my office yesterday!"

"Yes Sir..."

She crawled out of the broken desk and limped through the hole her body had made. On eof her friends hurried over as she slumped.

"I'll help you Chun."

As she passed the still form of Ryu she hissed, "This is far from over..."
