New Story: Untitled chap. 2

Ryu grimaced as the stock of the gun slammed into his midsection. He'd heard of Interpol before, but from what he had heard he hadn't expected this kind of treatment. Another guard slammed a gun into his back, forcing him through the open door and into the fenced in holding area. Ryu grimaced again and slid his body in, out of the way of the cell door, which slammed shut with a resounding "CLANG!!"

Ryu walked up to the cage and said,

"Shut up you!!" one guard yelled before slamming the butt of his gun against the chain link. Ryu snapped his head back to avoid the blow and shook his head.

the guard threatened, pointing a finger menacingly at Ryu.

Ryu moved his face up to the cage again and spoke.

The guard snarled in anger and tried again to smash the cage into Ryu's face with his gun, but his partner stopped him.

"That's enough!! I'm not about to let you get my pay docked again. Besides, he's just a street fighter. He ain't a drug dealer, leave 'im alone."

~Drug Dealers huh... I figured they were up to something, of course I didn't have much time to think about it...that damn ape jumped on me as soon as I walked past the ring...Oh well, now to greet my cell mates~

Ryu looked over to see several pairs of angry eyes locked on him.

"...sigh..."

~Perhaps now would be a good time to call Ken...~

Chun Li called up his file on Interpol's Intranet system and poured herself a cup of coffee. In a few seconds his file loaded and she had a face shot as well as several full body pictures. Chun Li sighed at the small paragraph of information under the images.

"Height, weight, blood type, and criminal record... hard to believe I know more about this guy than the rest of Interpol combined."

"I detect slight critisism on your part Miss Li." said the smiling man behind the desk.

"I apologize sir."

"Don't..." he said as he swiveled the moniter around so he could see it.

"It's hard to believe that we only have six sentences of information about a man who is widely considered to be the best martial artist on the planet..."

"I disagree. He's no martial artist." Chun Li said after draining her coffee cup.

"Really?" he aske with a raised eyebrow.

"Bruce Lee was a martial artist. This guy is a Street Fighter. His Master would be ashamed of him."

"Tell me more Chun Li. I want to know what you know."

Chun Li poured herself another cup of coffee and leaned back in the chair. She took another sip and nodded.

"While my Father was on his last mission I went with my Martial Arts instructor to Thailand..."

"Ah yes, how is Gen by the way?" He asked with a smile.

"He is fine, he is teaching his Grandsons in Honk Kong." Chun Li replied with a frown.

"Oh, I apologize, please continue."

"...He took me to watch an old student of his compete in a tournament. While watching a match an old man sat down next to Gen. It turns out he was a Shotokan Master, named Gouken. He was an old friend of Gen's and he had allowed his two senior students to enter the tournament. Ryu and Ken were their names and they had gotten into trouble almost immediately with tournament officials.

The American, Ken Masters had gotten into an altercation at a food stand with another martial artist. Ken got into a fight with him and Ryu backed him up when other fighters started to intervene. Apparantly a fire started and our boy Ryu hospitalized the other fighter with a couple cracked ribs. They had nearly been expelled from the tournament, but the Grand Champion Sagat sided with them and they were allowed to compete.

I met them both a few times, but didn't talk long. Masters talked too much and Ryu either said nothing or wandered off to watch a match. As it turns out Ryu won the tournament and beat the Champion, scarring his chest and nearly killing him.

Ryu, Ken, and their Master left the next day, heading back to Japan. Gen told me later that someone had killed Ryu's Master and that he had left Japan, starting his career as a street fighter."

Chun Li sipped at her coffee again and closed her eyes.

"What about his criminal record?"

"I'm not too sure about that Chief. As far as I can tell he's not a violent person. He is somewhat disturbed however. Seems authorities blamed him for his Master's death. It hurt him I'm sure. The old man was like a father to him. I know of one incident in New York where he was brought up on charges for assault and battery with an intent to kill, but his friend Masters intervened and he was aquitted."

What was that all about?" he asked.

"Someone challenged him to a fight and made some comment about his Sensei. He beat him up pretty good. He had to be hospitalized for three months."

"Ouch." he said with a wince.

"He also beat that Hong Kong action star to a pulp...what's his name..."

"Fei Long..." he supplied.

"Anyway, he's good...maybe the best. But he's nothing but a Street Fighter now. It's a shame, his Sensei was so proud of him...what about Balrog?"

Her superior sighed and stood, pushing his chair in as he walked from the desk. Chun Li followed him down a brightly lit hallway to a black door marked "OBSERVATION". He opened the door and three agents turned, one had a hand halfway to his holster. Chun Li knew how he felt. Everyone was jumpy. Through a window she could see Balrog. The large black man was strapped down to a table. He was being kept sedated until his legal date.

"Balrog will likely go to a maximum security prison, probably in the Psychiatric Ward since he suffers from Manic episodes. I'm certain he won't talk, but if we're lucky it won't matter. Hopefully one of those fighters heard something and they are willing to shed a little light on our problem."

The door opened and an agent appeared out of breath.

"We have a situation downstairs Sir."

Chun Li looked over at the Chief.

"Let me guess..."
