Ryu dropped his bag on the seat next to him and studied his surroundings. Three men in suits were sitting, facing him with unreadable expressions on their faces. Ryu was about to start checking his bag, to make sure nothing was missing, when one of the men took off his sun glasses and spoke.
“Mr. Ryu, we have been instructed by Mr. Masters to assist you in any way possible. We were also told to deliver this letter to you.”
The man pulled an envelop out of his coat and handed it to Ryu. Ryu took it And leaned back in the seat, studying it. It was crimson in color and his name was written in a familiar messy hand.
“From Ken I presume.” Ryu said to no one in particular. Ken’s red stationary and signature scrawl gave it away.
Ryu tore open the envelope and unfolded the letter he found inside.
It read:
Hey Ryu,
Seems you’ve got yourself into trouble once again. Hope it wasn’t anything too bad. We don’t want the champ soiling his respectable image. Anyway, these guys in the suits are supposed to take you anywhere you need to go. If you need money for a ticket, just let them know and they will provide.
Ken Masters
p.s. If you don’t stop by soon for a match I’ll stop bailing your ass out.
Ryu folded the letter back up and put it back in it’s envelope. Ken had done him a favor. He was a good friend. Ryu really should stop by for a visit. It had been so long. But there was a tournament in Okinawa in two days.
“Where to Mr. Ryu?” one of the men in suits asked.
Ryu put the letter in his bag and folded his arms.
“Okinawa Gentlemen.”
“So how is the tracer doing?”
Chun Li looked up from her terminal as Guile and Charlie walked in.
“Both are functioning. Seems he’s headed south out of the city.”
Guile pulled up a chair and turned it backwards to sit in.
“So did you hear where they’re sending our boy Balrog?”
Chun Li ignored him and pulled up a map on her terminal. Seeing as how it was now her job to be aware of Ryu’s whereabouts she had mapped the locations of every major tournament in and around Japan.
~I wonder where he’s headed~
“CHUN!!”
“What the hell do you want, BLONDIE?!?” she yelled at the two ex air force pilots.
“Hey! I resemble that remark!”
Chun Li snorted, “Shut up Nash. We all know your dirty little secret. You bleach it.”
Charlie’s face screwed up in mock-anger.
“That’s it Chunster, now I’m definitely not taking you to the Christmas Party.”
“I’m crushed...” she said as she located a fairly well known annual tournament held near Mt. Aso. She knew from talking to Gen that Ryu trained often in the Kyushu Region.
“Ouch...that’s cold Chun. But you’ll want to hear this.” Guile said as he patted Nash on the back.
Chun Li ground her teeth in irritation and logged off her terminal.
“What is it?”
“You know about Alcatraz right? What they did to it.”
Chun Li shrugged. “I heard that they were renovating it.”
The two shook their heads and sighed.
“You really need to get on the ball. Turns out that Alcatraz will be the place Balrog is going.”
Chun Li arched an eyebrow in confusion.
“Alcatraz has been completely renovated and redesigned. A facility was required to hold individuals capable of extreme criminal acts. Too many people in pens around the United States were being killed by these psychos. Men who were in for fraud, car theft, assault. The United States decided to donate Alcatraz Island as a site for the new prison. All the big time dictators, drug lords, serial killers, and worse are being sent there now, instead of mingling with inmates serving time for lesser crimes.”
Chun Li soaked up all this information and came to an obvious conclusion.
“Isn’t it a little bit dangerous to keep all the super baddies together?”
Charlie shook his head.
“No. They’re all kept seperately. Two to a cell, but with a bulletproof shield between the two halves of the room. They are shackled at all times. When they eat, sleep, exercise, and crap, they are always shackled. They are always under observation. The second floor looks down on the main floor. Guards walk catwalks over the entire main floor. Each is equipped with an M-16 and a remote control. If something starts up you simply type in an inmates number and they are shocked into unconciousness.”
“I’m sure that bends quite a few rules.”
Guile shrugged. “All parties involved are turning a blind eye on any violations of rights going on here. Amnesty and Humanitarian groups have been pre-warned to keep their mouths shut.”
Chun Li nodded in understanding.
“So everything is well in hand?”
Guile and Nash both allowed small smiles to cross their faces.
“That’s the best part. If anything goes wrong there is one very effective contingency plan.”
Chun Li’s brow furrowed in confusion at their grim smiles. “And that is?”
“There are several warheads positioned around the bay. No one is taking any chances. If a prison break occurs...the island will be obliterated.”
A man sat in a chair, watching a computer monitor that protruded from a black marble desk. There was no light in the room, save that which came from the monitor. The screen displayed several different movies simultaneously. All the recordings were of men fighting, but one of the fighters was always the same. A man in a white dogi.
A door opened on the left side of the room and a shadowy figure stood in the opening, hesitating.
“Speak.”
“Balrog has been sent to Alcatraz my Lord.”
“Good. Your death has been postponed as a reward for your efforts.”
The man in the doorway paused, collecting enough courage to speak.
“Thank you, my Lord.”
The man did not respond, merely continued to observe the images of the fighter on his monitor.
“Is everything ready in Okinawa?”
“Yes, my Lord.”
