The Path of the True Warrior Ch. 1
By Ryu-san

“Take these men away!” Yelled the inspector.

”Yes, ma’am,” the other officers replied.

“It was horrible! Inhuman, how did he do that! Augh!!” One of the guards from the street fight yelled.

Chun-li didn’t like the way things sounded. According the witnesses, a man came in, watched a fight, joined the fight and beat the champion with one blow. Then after the twenty men attempted to stop him with force, he beat them without breaking a sweat. But the weirdest thing was that there were reports that when they tried to draw their guns, the man yelled something in Japanese, filled the room with light, and then all h*ll broke loose. There were many variations but one thing was consistent, the man had spun in the air for five seconds, creating a vacuum and the ensuing vortex engulfed everybody. When the police found this place a few hours later, the men were still swooned, covered with various bruises. The only clue she had as to who this mysterious and possibly dangerous fighter is, was a red headband that was left behind at the scene of the incident…

Several miles away, outside the city limits, the warrior cursed.

“Baka (idiot)!” He yelled. He had left his headband behind and didn’t even realize it. The headband was a gift from Ken, his best friend since he was a child training under his sensei.

“Freeze! You have the right to remain silent any thing you say can and will be used against you in the court of law,” said the woman as she kept her gun pointed at the strange man in the white gi.

“Nan de (why)?” Ryu asked.

“Oh, you’re Japanese, do you understand English?” she asked him.

“Yes,” he replied, “but who are you?”

“I’m Chun-li and I’m here to arrest you for assault and illegal involvement in a street fight among other things.” Chun-li told him.

“Very well…However, I would like a phone call before leaving with you.” Ryu told her.

“Oh, fine then. But hurry up!” she yelled. He looked very dangerous and she wasn’t going to take a chance with this guy. She also sensed a kindness and complacency but she couldn't let that distract her from the task at hand. Plus, his politeness was starting to get on her nerves.

Beep, boop, beep, beep, boop, beep beep.. .ring…ring…

“mmm…hhrmrm(hello)?” a man asked.

“Listen, it’s me. This woman is arresting me, Can you clear things up for me? We can catch up on old times as well.” Ryu told the man over the phone.

“Oh, Ryu! Sure, no problem, I’ll be there as soon as I can, don’t worry, just sit tight and I’ll be right there.” The man replied as he hung up.

“Come on, what’s the hold up?” Chun-li asked.

“I’m done, let’s go,” answers Ryu.

An hour later, Ryu is sitting in a cell and begins meditation.

Two hours after…

“It’s me,” says the man.

“Oh! Of course you may enter!” The policeman told him.

“Hum! Of course! Hey, Ryu!” the man called.

Ryu rose from his meditation with a smile on his face.

“Ken! Long time no see!” he exclaims.

Then Ken suddenly throws a punch at him and Ryu swiftly pushes it aside. They both laugh.

“Ha! Ryu, you’re still as good as ever I see.” Ken tells him.

“Tsk tsk. Ken, you’ve been lazy. Living the rich life made you slower,” Ryu replies with a smile.

“Heh, we’ll see when we spar. But first, we have to get you out of here. Dad already took care of it, he remembers you and he carries a lot of influence around here. Well, let’s go!” Ken begins pushing Ryu and they start to leave.

“Hold it! Where do you think you’re taking him?” a woman asks.

“Ugh, it’s her again. Ken, this is Chun-li, the officer that arrested me.” Ryu informs him.

Ken takes looks at her. *Hm…Not bad. If I weren’t dating Eliza…* Ken then takes a second look. She is wearing very unusual garb for an officer. With a blue battle outfit, with spiked bracelets at the side, she looks ready to do some serious damage. He looks and sees that her body is well toned. Must be a street fighter… she seems familiar.

“Hey, we’ve already cleared things with Interpol and we’ve paid the bail. Now excuse us,” Ken answered her.

“Hey, you! You can’t just do that!” She fumed.

“Sure we can, let’s go Ryu.” Ken tells him.

“Oh, ok Ken. Sayonara, Li-Chun san. Pleasure meeting you,” Ryu tells her. He respected the fact that she was only doing her job and understood her devotion to her job, which seemed to him to mirror his own devotion to the fight.

“Hmph! Don’t think I’m through with you yet,” she warns.

She fumes and walks off into the station and towards the elevator. She sticks her tongue out as the door closes. >:-P

The two men walk and begin sharing the events that happened after they separated from the first street fighter tournament…
