Fists and Flames: Beginning of the Cataclysm Ch.18

Japan:
Ryu sat quietly on the edge of the bed with his arms crossed. His usually calm dark brown eyes were troubled, his brows furrowed and his mouth set in a firm frown.
"I still don't think you should come to Japan with us." Ryu said irritably, his eyes darting back and forth, following Chun-li's very move.
Chun-li stopped packing. She let out a frustrated sigh as she leaned over the suitcase, her head low and her eyes shut tight. They had been through this a hundred and one time since Ryu discovered she would bear yet another of his children.
"Frankly Ryu, I don't care what you think right now. I'm going with you to Japan and from there to Taiwan." Chun-li stated stubbornly, rubbing her throbbing left temple.
A muscle ticked in Ryu's jaw, a sign he was getting upset. "What if something happens to you?" he asked anxiously, his mahogany eyes still very much upset.
Chun-li snapped open her eyes and glared at Ryu. "You know, you weren't worried if something happened to me before you found out I was pregnant."
Ryu's expression softened, "That's not true." He was truly hurt. "I always have and still do worry that something might happen to you. That's why I told you to stay with the kids but of course I couldn't stop you from coming. You're very stubborn."
Chun-li stood up and crossed her arms, "I'm not that stubborn, I just don't give up easily. You are the stubborn one." She defended herself, still quite angry.
Ryu came up behind her and hugged her. "I'm stubborn enough to protect you whether you like it or not."
"Yea I know." She mumbled, "But you do know I can take care of myself, right?" she looked up at him.
Ryu's now calm dark brown eyes looked into her sparkling brown ones. He smiled, "Of course I do." He said softly before kissing her.
Ken walked in on the kissing couple. Frowning, he rolled his eyes. "Don't you two ever stop? Come on we have to go." With that Ken walked out of the room with the expression a child might have on his face if he saw his parents kissing.

The trip to the airport was a short one, maybe twenty minutes. During this twenty minute trip, they all heard sounds in the trunk but brushed it off, assuming it was their luggage.
"I don't want to get on that thing again." Ryu complained as they walk toward the jet.
"Will we all fit in that, Ken?" asked Dan, measuring the jet with his eyes.
"Yea." Answered Ken, choosing to ignore Ryu's comment. "I made the pilot get the full sized jet yesterday. It's bigger so everyone should fit."
Again Chun-li had to coax Ryu onto the plane but this time Liu had to threaten Ryu into his seat. Ryu mumbled curses softly in Japanese as the captain announced that they were about to take off. But nothing happened for a while until...
"Mr. Masters, we have a problem in the back. Could you go back there and straighten it out?" asked the captain.
Ken got up and came back five minutes later with a Chinese teenage girl with two ponytails. Ling. Ken started to walk toward Chun-li but Ling wouldn't budge. "Li." Ken called to her, "A stow away."
Chun-li looked back at Ling calmly. "Come here Ling." She said softly
Ling edge toward Chun-li, standing back a little out of her sister's reach.
"Ling, why are you here? Didn't I send you back with the other two?" Chun-li's voice was still surprisingly calm
"Yes you did and no you didn't." Ling stopped for a minute but stated when Chun-li open her mouth to speak. "Li, I had to stay. I can't leave you now that you're pregnant. Besides I couldn't get on the same plane as Sakura. I probably would have killed her." Ling's mouth in that familiar frown Ryu had seen the night before she supposedly left.
Chun-li smiled softly, "Ling, I don't need protection. I could take care of myself."
Ling was silent for a moment, "But I want to help you kill that bastard who murdered Father." she spat out bitterly.
Chun-li stopped smiling, "Ling watch your mouth. I understand Ling. I want to kill him too, but I don't want to get you killed in the middle of it."
Ling turned from her sister, angrily stomped down the aisle and plopped down next to Rose.
Chun-li sighed. "Ken?" She called, rubbing her left temple.
"Hmm?"
"I want to stop in America before we go to Japan."
Ken sighed, "Sorry Li, if we go to America we'll be off schedule. And when a lunatic is trying to take over the world, you can't go off schedule. But we could leave her in Japan.' Ken added the last part when he saw Chun-li frown.
"Where?" Chun-li's brows crinkled. "Who lives in Japan?"
"A Sumo named E.Honda. It would be easier that way cause we have to meet him there."
"Will he mind?"
Ken shook his head; "Honda's a pretty nice guy. I'm sure he won't mind."
"Okay its' settled then. Ling will stay at the Sumo's house until we come back from Taiwan." Chun-li seemed pretty satisfied, but Ling was pissed off.
"She always does this." Ling complained to Rose. "She treats me like a baby, like I can't take care of myself."
Rose gazed at Ling in sympathy. "You know she is just looking out for you. You are her little sister."
"But still, she doesn't have to treat me like I'm two." Ling answered crossly.
"Don't worry it will get better." Rose soothed.
The comment did help Ling calm down. She thought of what she would do during her stay in Japan, unaware that Rose had just given her a hint of her future.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How much longer do we have to walk?" Complained Liu.
"Not much. Liu I thought you were used to walking." You told his brother as the group moved through the forest. They had dropped Ling and Eliza (Ken's decision.) at Honda's house and gotten the Sumo wrestler to come with them. He was a pretty congenial guy. After that they set out into Mother Nature.
Ryu had said that it was a fifteen-minute walk through the forest but they were still in it. They would have been at their destination if Ryu hadn't kept stopping. Ryu seemed lost but he had a very uneasy feeling but he couldn't tell why.
"We've been walking around in circles." Liu groaned.
"We're almost there stop whining."
"I'm not whining and I'm tired. Can we take a break?" Liu asked, sitting down on a rock.
"We just had a break." Ryu growled.
"So?" Liu stretched out.
Ryu ran his hands through his hair. He would have to make his brother pay attention to something else so they could move faster. Ryu couldn't stand another minute in that forest, with that uneasy feeling he was having. Ryu flexed his legs a bit, "You're very lazy Liu. I'm surprised you weren't too lazy to learn how to fight."
Liu was up in a flash. He darted after Ryu into the forest, zipping and zagging, dodging past trees trying to catch him. He stopped when Ryu ran into an old wooden building. "The dojo." He whispered, walking slowly up to it.
"Told you it wouldn't take that long." Ryu taunted.
Liu made a face at him before going inside.
By this time everyone had caught up and was in the dojo.
"We can stay here until we leave." Ryu smiled. "No one can find us."
"Wow! Its' really beautiful out here. Now wonder I had such a hard time making you move to America." Chun-li punched Ryu in the shoulder playfully.
The dojo was on a mountain that over looked a river with a waterfall. Outside the dojo were cherry blossom trees that shadowed the roof. The sound of the forest blanketed the dojo with melodies of ethereal music. The scent was a blend of spices so thick that when you breathed in you cold taste them.
Dan looked around, "Umm, Ryu? There are no beds."
"I know." Ryu smiled.
"Aww, don't tell me we have to sleep on the floor." Dan whined.
"Yea we do." Ryu grinned. He so enjoyed bothering Dan.
"Do we at least get blankets?"
"Yea."
"Do you have a TV?" Dan asked hopefully.
"No, you idiot. Why would there be a TV in a dojo? This isn't a hotel Dan. I think you've gotten too used to being pampered." Ryu looked at Ken.
"What?" Ken asked innocently.
Ryu rolled his eyes. "Anyway, If guys want food, make it yourselves. If you want to use the bathroom, go outside. Same thing goes for cooking. If you want to take a bath, go to the river. Guys no peeking, ditto for you ladies. And if you wanna eat you gotta help catch the fish." Ryu counted off all these things on his fingers.
"Sounds like heaven." Cammy said sarcastically.
