Fist and Flames, beginning of the Cataclysm-Ch24
BY LilCherryblossom

In the light of the moon, a small squirrel sniffed the night air, searching for a nibble to eat. He stuck his head out further as the wind kicked up, his animal senses picking up a scent from the end of the branch. Worry free, the squirrel scampered down the branch and happily plucked the acorn from its resting-place. Suddenly, the tree shook with a terrible tremor, almost knocking the poor squirrel off. The squirrel struggled to stay on the branch, holding on for dear life but alas the squirrel fell .. and was squired by a steel claw. A small squeak emitted from the squirrel before its spirit was beckoned into the light.

The blond Spanish assassin known as Vega slowly swept the claw across his tongue, licking off the squirrel's blood.

" That's disgusting." A deep voice boomed toward the blond Spaniard.

Vega looked menacingly at the owner of the voice, Sagat. A small smile begin to etch across his face. "I have a taste for blood and there are no more people in the city."

"I meant, drinking the blood of an animal." The huge Cyclopes frowned.

Vega held up his claw as if preparing to strike, " Why? You think yours would taste better?" The menacing smile still stretched on his beautiful face.

Sagat scoffed, "You're welcome to try, Vega. But I don't think Bison would like it if I broke your spine in two."

"Hm, is that the threat you told Ryu before he busted your chest open?"

Sagat roared, "You mangy, disgusting, miserable excuse for an assassin! I'll mangle your face for that!" Sagat lunged at the smaller man.

Vega's eyes widened and he quickly flipped backward, pushed himself off of a tree trunk and flipped into another tree. He pulled his mask over his charming, exquisite, beautiful face.

Sagat smirked, "Even if I can't get to your face, I can always gauge out your eyes, Vega. TIGER CANNON!"

The orange projectile rammed into the tree, shaking it violently.

Vega frowned and growled beneath his mask. He pushed off his haunches, speeding down toward Sagat with his claw extended.

Sagat side steeped this as quick as he could.

Vega pushed his hands off the ground and flipped backward. His feet made contact with a tree and he skyrocketed off of it, using the force to jet towards Sagat and kick him in the face.

Sagat's head snapped to the side, but other than that, he seemed unfazed. A trickle of blood dribble down his chin. "All that and all you manage to do is bust my lip? I'm really wondering why Bison picked you to be one of his assassins."

Vega narrowed his eyes.

"Oh yes, those eyes. Well, better finish the job I started. TIGER…" Sagat lowered his hands from their position. He sniffed the air.

"You smell it too?" Vega asked rather calmly for a man who was about to get his eyes gauged out.

"Yes. It smells like.."

"Burning flesh." Vega finished.

"Yes."

"I'd know that smell anywhere." Vega narrowed his eyes again as he licked his lips.

"Yes, you would. Anyway, it appears we have company, we should inform Bison. He'll be pleased to know that his spy did his job." Sagat glared at Vega. "We'll finish this little spat later." He began to walk briskly toward the base.

Vega's narrowed eyes followed Sagat a while before he hopped into a nearby tree to follow.

"We shouldn't have let the body burn." Chun-li mumbled rather loudly, for a mumble.

"Well, we couldn't exactly put the flames out could we?" Ken seemed to say what everyone was thinking.

"You could have tried harder! Now Bison knows we're here already!" Chun-li exclaimed, eyes widened and staring right at him, with her hands on her hips.

"How do you know that?" Dan asked.

"Because Dan. A body gives a very strong odor when it's burned. If Bison doesn't know were here, he's an idiot." She turned and continued on through the side streets of the city.

"Don't worry Chun." Dan smiled. "He doesn't know we're here. And if he does know he'll never find us. That pea brained, poor excuse for a world dominator couldn't find his ass if it wasn't attached to his body."

"Your one to talk, and don't call me that." Chun-li threw at his over her shoulder.

"Li, don't be so hard on Dan, he's just trying to be optimistic. It won't hurt to be optimistic, especially since we have to face a raving lunatic soon." Ryu had walked up to Chun-li's side and was now smiling at her.

At that comment, Chun-li hunched her shoulders and slowly turned her head toward him. Her eyes narrowed, she shook her head and quickened her pace. "Men, they're all the same. They always side together." She rambled on as she walked ahead.

'Fool. They have no idea what Bison has in store for them. the girl is right, they should have been more careful. Now Bison definitely knows they're here. Hu, couldn't find his ass if it wasn't attached to his body. What does that pink wearing fruitcake know? He has the I.Q. of a five-year-old.' The Shadowlaw assassin, Balrog thought. He glanced at the direction they were headed. He nodded to himself when he was at least almost sure this was the direction they should be headed. His memory didn't serve him well, especially since he'd been away from the base for five months. In fact the last time he had been to the base was the day of his pretend fall out of Bison's good grace. After that he had spent four months gaining their trust. Little did they know that trust was about to be broken.

Bison smiled as he watched the screen. On the screen were a group of fighters moving toward the base to stop him. In the back was his faithful spy Balrog. Bison grinned when he saw him. "He will be rewarded." He turned to the tow men behind him, Sagat and Vega. "So shall you, maybe a country for each of you when I am done conquering the world. So long as you rule them as I wish."

They both nodded.

"Very good." Bison turned from his two assassins. "Juni! Juli! Charge up the Psycodrive! This project must be successful."

"Excuse me Master, but which one of us will you choose?" The young blonde Juni asked while helping charge the machine.

Bison smiled at her competitiveness, "My young Juni, which ever one of you two is alive at the end of our little tiff, shall be the victor." Bison paused for a moment as he watched the two drone like women. "Speaking of that, I want you two to follow me. It won't be long before our guests arrive."

"Its too quiet." Ibuki looked around and shook her head. "This is definitely a trap."

"No. Bison is too proud for that. He'll probably give us something we'll expect. Like his two assassins jumping out at us or him teleporting out in front of us to fight." Cammy said in a nonchalant voice.

Ibuki gave her a quizzical look, "And that is something we'll expect?"

Cammy nodded, "Yea."

"Actually my little doll, I'll probably be on the steps of my base with my assassins nest to me, welcoming you in. I find that very fitting since you all will soon call this base home, if you don't die first." As said, Bison stood on the steps of his base, with Sagat, Vega and the two dolls next to him. Behind them were rows of guards. "An of course, I'll throw in a few guards since there are fourteen of you and six of us." Bison threw in a sadistic grin.

"You mean fifteen of us and five of you. If you went to school you would've learned to count." Cammy sneered as she glared at Bison.

Bison chuckled, "Balrog."

Balrog, who had been standing behind Cammy, grabbed both her pigtails in one hand an yanked her out of his way. He crossed the length of the dusty yard and stood by Bison's side, grinning like the idiot he was.

"You were saying?" Bison asked, cockily folding his arms.

Cammy narrowed her eyes and growled from her position on the floor. She did not like being double-crossed. With two words she set off the attack on Bison's army.

"CANNON DRILL!"
