The Silence Ch. 2
By Sean O'Grady
Dr. Federick Chilton, fifty-eight, administrator of the New York Hospital for
the Criminally Insane, had a long, wide desk upon which there appeared to be no
sharp or pointed objects on the desktop. Chun-li didn't bother to change, she
wore her blue chinese uniform and her purse with the questionnaire in it. She
notice that Dr. Chilton was looking at her constantly as he talked to
her,"I must say, we get a lot of detectives here, but I can't remember one
so attractive." he said.
"Dr. Chilton, I was ordered to talk to Bison and report back this
afternoon."
"Alright, let's get this over with."
The two exit his office and headed down several corridors, passing through
several steel rolling gates. They went deeper into the basement.
"He's a pure psychopath. But he is impenetrable, much too sophisticated
for the standard test. And,my,does he hate us. He thinks I'm his nemesis.
Manson's very clever using you." Chilton said as they walked.
"What do you mean?" Chun-li said with a puzzled look on her face.
"A pretty, young woman to turn him on. I don't believe Bison's seen a
woman in eight years."
As they walked through another corridor that led towards a flight of stairs,
Chilton spoke,"These are the rules:Do not touch the glass, do not approach
the glass. You pass him nothing but soft paper. No pencils or pens, no staples
or paperclips in his paper, you use the sliding food carrier. No exceptions. If
he attempts to pass you anything, do not accept it. Do you understand?"
"I understand." was her replied.
"Bison never goes anywhere without full restraints and a mouthpiece,"
he said."I'm going to show you why. On the afternoon of July 8, 1999, he
complained of chest pain was taken to the dispensary. His restraints were
removed for a EKG. When the nurse bent over him, he did this to her." He
handed Chun-li a pocket size photo.
"The doctors managed to rest her jaw, more or less. Saved one of her
eyes. His pulse never got above eighty-five, even when he ate her tongue."
Chun-li got a sicken feeling in her gut. Chilton pushed a large red button
and two doors opened. She walked in as the doors closed behind her. Now there
was only her and a big impassive orderly.
"Hi, I'm Barney. Now he told you don't get near the glass.?" His
voice was both high and hoarse.
"Yes, he told me."
"Okay. He's past the others, last cell. You keep to the right. I also
set out a chair for you."
The gates poen. The hallway was thirty feet long, with cells on each side.
They were all standard prison cells. Several of the prisoners looked at her,
but she didn't look back and kept on walking. She was more than halfway through
the hall when a voice hissed at her,"I can smell your cunt."
She gave no sign of hearing it. She walked to the last cell, her footsteps
announced her.
