Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch. 15
By Silvercane

It was about 2 weeks after the secret underground tournament had started and Ryu finished it. Ryu was the winner, the one who fought himself up the long chain of strong, skilled street fighters. He was to fight a champion by the name of Sagat in about a month.

Someone spilled the news about the tournament to the principal of the school. Since Glenmore Academy was an unbelievably strict school, entering illegal fighting tournaments was a definite no-no. Thus, everyone who took part in it was suspended for 2 days. Every student/participant/fighter was relieved and thankful for the suspension to rest and heal their wounds, broken bones and sores.

Ken invited some of them over to watch some videos at his mansion during their day of suspension. Dan, Guy, Chun Li, Cammy, and Fei Long came over- looking like they just got back from the war.

“I got someone to record some of the tournament on camcorder”, announced Ken with a smirk. “Actually, I paid him, but this will be a memory of our teen years.

Everyone took a seat somewhere in Ken’s rec. room and was anxious to see the video as Ken popped it into the VCR. Dan was seated on the couch with his crutches leaning against it; he had rebroken his ankle. (Remember when he broke it in a previous chapter?)

Guy sat on the floor, only capable of seeing with one eye. His left eye had a patch over it since Ken claimed to have accidentally scratched his retina in the tournament.

Fei Long sat next to him, munching on popcorn- well, making an attempt to anyway. His cheek was deeply cut and jaw wounded and had to be stitched up because of Vega’s sharp iron claw. He could hardly talk or eat.

Cammy sat in a love seat, her broken leg hanging off the side of it. She grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bowl on Fei Long’s lap and shoved it all into her mouth, exaggerating her crunching of the popcorn, in front of Fei long. She was making him jealous since he could hardly chew.

“Vewy fuwwy”, Fei Long said sarcastically. (Very funny.)

Chun Li began to laugh but stopped abruptly because of the agonizing pain. She clutched her ribs- that Ryu broke. Fei Long threw a piece of popcorn at her that bounced off her head. “Thas fo lawing aa me” (That’s for laughing at me)

Of course, the group laughed even harder.

Ryu sat on the couch, next to Dan. He only had a light cut on his shoulder from Vega’s claw.

Ken limped towards the couch cause of his sprained ankle- which wasn’t even a result of the tournament. He just injured himself in gym class!

And to add to all of these injuries on these teen fighters, there were countless bruises, small cuts, bumps, and definite sore muscles.

Ken pressed the ‘play’ button on the remote and Dan faced appeared on the screen. Guy and Ryu were in the backround. “This was just testing to see if the camcorder worked, on the way to the tournament. They all couldn’t help laughing. Dan was making stupid facial expressions. Then flashed the first fight between Cammy and Chun Li.

“There! That’s when I broke my leg!” Cammy pointed out. She was flung onto the ropes and fell to the floor- very hard with a crunch and her leg bent in an almost impossible position. Everyone groaned and looked away when the parts of their injuries were shown. Dan kept replaying them in slow motion. Ryu was seen doing a roundhouse at Chun Li’s ribs. Chun Li eyed him from the corner of the couch. He smiled back innocently and sheepishly.

They watched the rest of the video, all three hours of it, glued to the goriness of being pulverized by others. “Well, now what do we do on our day of suspension, that will be on our permanent records?’ asked Ken as he took a sip of Perrier. “You just had to bring that up, didn’t you?” said Chun Li as others groaned.

“What?” Ken asked.

“I still can’t believe that it’s going to be on our permanent records…” Cammy started.

“That” Chun Li answered Ken’s question.

"Cammy’s been whining about that the whole way here”, complained Dan.

“Wanna play ‘Scrabble’?” suggested Guy as he looked at the game, collecting dust on the shelf.

“The h*ll’s wrong with you? Has the cycloptic incident affected your brain somehow? Aaaarrrrrr matee”, Ken imitated a pirate. “Well, what else can we do? We obviously can’t do anything that requires running, or else you’ll trip and sprain your ankle”, Guy joked.

“Hey! The floor was slippery and I wasn’t prepared for Dan throwing the ball at my head”, Ken snapped.

“Don’t blame me! You are supposed to be alert and prepared for a pass during basketball at all times!” Dan said defensively. “You just had to bitch to coach Fuller about it, didn’t you?” “Scwabbo iw iz!” said Fei Long as he got up and got it.

(Scrabble it is!)

“…I mean, what about Harvard? My future? The army?…” Cammy was still complaining about the permanent records to Chun Li, who looked about ready to fall a sleep.

Since only 4 players were to play, Dan, Ken, Guy, and Cammy were playing. Fei Long went to find pudding in Ken’s kitchen, since solid food was killing him. Ryu walked outside quietly and Chun Li decided to follow him. She didn’t feel like watching 4 morons play Scrabble.

“’Aftembrum’ is not a word”, said Cammy.

“Do you dare challenge it?” asked Dan who sounded so sure of himself.

“Yes”, replied Cammy as she flipped through a dictionary. Dan smacked the book shut.

“Fine, you don’t have to look. It’s not a word”, said Dan defeated and he took off the tiles.

*****

“Watcha doin’?” asked Chun Li as she walked in to the garden where Ryu had went.

“Nothing, just watching the birds”, he replied.

“Wow! So exciting!” Chun Li said sarcastically.

Ryu grinned.

“Even the simplest living being is fascinating”

“So are you anxious to fight a Muy Thai champion, Sagat? Only a month away” Chun Li asked, changing the subject.

“Each fighter is a new challenge, so yes, I am”

“I’m sure you’ll win. I could help you train if you want?” she offered.

“You’re not mad at me from art class?”

“I’m much too mature to argue over petty things”, Chun Li joked and giggled.

She looked at Ryu who was staring at her.

“What?”

“Nothing”, said Ryu, embarrassed at being caught. He smiled to himself discretely when she turned her head. He loved watching her laugh, she showed the innocent child side of herself.

“So is your offer still available?” he asked meekly.

“You betcha”
