Your Adolescent Street Fighters Ch. 18
By Silvercane
“Wow, so the guy thinks you belong in an asylum?” Cammy snickered.
“Hey! It wasn’t my fault. I mean,…I…”
“Of course, I know, what you told me about your past, it’s quite…unbelievable”
Cammy said sympathetically.
Chun Li sighed. “So what do I tell him?”
“Aaa!” Cammy shrieked as the ball landed in her court, almost bouncing off
her head.
“Watch it!” yelled Chun Li as another ball bounced off her foot. It was gym
class and they were playing volleyball. The other girls on their team eyed Chun
Li and Cammy.
“C’mon girls! Get your head in the game!” ordered the phys. ed. teacher.
Cammy rolled her eyes and ignored him. She turned to Chun Li and continued
talking.
“You know, these shorts aren’t very flattering” Cammy mentioned, but Chun Li
was staring into space. “I’m sure that he would understand. From what you told
me, the last three weeks training with him was amazing. If you could tell me,
why can’t you tell him?”
“Well, it’s different. I’ve been sharing a dorm with you for months now. I
mean, I know your habits, your obsession to have everything clean and tidy,
your routine every morning, the way you call out Fei Long’s name in your sleep…”
Cammy’s mouth dropped open.
“…we’re really close”
“Aren’t you and Ryu pretty close as well?”
‘Yeah, I guess, but I’ll tell him another day”
Cammy jumped aside as the ball flew by her.
“That almost hit me in the face!”
The phys. ed. teacher shook his head.

Chun Li sat on the bleachers in the cool evening and smiled when she saw Fei
Long jog up to her. He sat next to her and pulled an envelope out of his jacket
pocket.
“It’s a letter from sifu” he said as he handed it to her. Chun Li’s eyes lit
up. She hadn’t heard from him in so long and she missed him, even his
punishing. She eagerly opened the letter and read it silently to herself, Fei
long had already read it. He pulled a giant sandwich out of a paper bag and
took an enormous bite out of it. Chun li smiled to herself while reading the
letter.
“I’m glad that Yun and Yang are doing good, except Yun is still getting into
street fights”, she said to Fei Long, who was eating his sandwich as if it was
his last meal. Chun Li looked at him disgustedly.
“Pig” she mocked.
‘hey, I’m a growing guy” he said defensively with his mouth full. Now that his
jaw was healed, he was cherishing every single bite. Chun Li sniffed the letter
after she finished reading it. It smelled just like the dojo, incense and kinda
musky. She missed the dojo incredibly.
“Only 5 months ‘till we’re back on the busy streets of Hong Kong!’ said Fei
Long happily.
“Yeah” muttered Chun Li gloomily.
“What’s the matter? I thought that you were aching to back to China, to
Sifu, and the si-hings”
“I am”, she assured him.
“And there’s a guaranteed blockbuster action script waiting for me when I
get back”
Chun Li sighed and leaned back, with her head lying on her jacket and she
stared up at the dark indigo sky. Fei Long did the same thing and stared up
with her.
“So what are we looking at?” he asked.
“Fei, don’t you like America?”
“Of course, I’ve been here quite a few times already, for filming. Remember
when you used to bug me to bring you back clothes from New York?”
“Yeah, but I meant, to live”
“I never thought about it. I mean, I always thought that I would buy a few
houses here, but Hong Kong has always been my home, where my fans are. Besides,
where else can you get a really good Gucci wallet rip-off for 10$?”
“But it’s nice and quiet here”
“Hey, don’t worry, you’ll get used to bustling China when we get back. I
promised Yun and Yang that I’d get them an American skateboard and rollerblades…”
Chun Li spaced out as Fei Long kept talking. She wanted to stay here with
her friends and…Ryu. ‘Oh well’ she thought ‘I still have 5 months’

“ Ryu, you have a letter” said Ken as he handed him the envelope. Ryu put
down the pencil that he was using to do his math homework with. He opened the
letter and read it to himself.
“It’s from the people who ran the tournament we entered. Sagat’s been
arrested. I fight Him in June” he told Ken who was hovering over him.
“Oh well, at least you get more training”
‘With Chun Li’ he thought to himself. He shook the idea out of his head and
continued calculating.

“Dan! If this is the wrong way, I’m going to kill you! It’s almost midnight”
said Guy as he zipped up his jacket.
“Don’t worry, this is a short cut that will get you home in no time” Dan
assured him.
They had gone to a wrestling match and it wasn’t in a very safe area. Dan
led him into a dark damp alley.
“You boys are f***ing dead!”
“POW!” a gun shot was fired.
