The Story of Saikyo-Ryu Ch 3
By trutenor

Dan had 3 goals to accomplish... One... to beat the crap out of Sagat. Two... to learn how to throw a better fireball. And three... to finally get the recognition that he deserved. He was a great fighter. But warriors such as Ryu and Ken made him look inferior. Dan realized that he envyed Ryu. It was Ryu who had gave Sagat that scar in his chest. Not him, but Ryu. "That should have been my victory!" Dan was also jealous of the fact that Chun Li, quite possibly the most attractive Street Fighter, had the hots for Ryu. Yet, Ryu would continue to ignore her affections. "The fight is all"... That speech is starting to become tiresome. But what Dan probaly despised about Ryu the most was the fact that Sagat beat Dan to a bloody pulp once... And Ryu was the one to be Sagat...Again... Dan tried to remember how Ryu won that fight...

Ryu was charging up energy...He was focused...Not letting his emotions get the best of him...Both Sagat and Dan knew it...Ryu was going to throw one of his best fireballs yet...Their predictions were right...Ryu pushed both of his hands forward before shouting "Hadou-ken!" Sagat was hit by this force of pure energy and was out cold. Ryu then picked up his duffel bag and walked away saying, "The fight is all"...

Dan finally came to terms with himself. He was blaming Ryu for his failures. Ryu had done nothing to him. Dan realized that Ryu was able to throw a great fireball because he focused all of his energy completly. He didn't rush it. That's what Dan needed to do. He needed to focus his energy more, and not rush it. Then he would be great like Ryu. Even greater.

Dan stood up. He cleared his mind of everything. He brought his right arm back and closed his eyes. He tried to feel all the energy inside his body. Dan started to glow a blue aura. Dan opened his eyes... His right hand was filled with an enormous amount of energy. "I've never felt this much energy from a regular Gadouken..." Dan was close to accomplishing his goal. He had to remember not to rush this technique. It required patience. Dan looked around the forest for a target... He saw a tree 2 feet away from him. That would be the perfect target. Dan was about to throw all his energy at the tree, but then he stopped. "Gotta remember, patience. It's not time yet..." Dan continued to charge the energy up. He had to wait until the time was right...He continued to charge. The sky was extremely bright from the energy that Dan was bringing forth. Finally, Dan's hand felt like it was about to burst! "Is it time?" Dan started to see beams of light before his eyes... Were these beams his intentions? Dan had to remember what Gouken taught him before he was kicked out. "Focus your ki like you are fighting a real opponent." He had to remember the advice that Retsu had given him after he lost. "A warrior who is impatient will never be able to fully focus." Dan figured out the answers... Why Ryu, Ken, and even Sakura were able to throw good fireballs... They trained regularly...Were never to confident of their abilities...And were patient. Patience was not a strong point for Dan Hibiki, but he realized that he would have to learn a bit of patience to become a better fighter.

The beams of light that Dan were seeing finally formed into one horizontal line. Dan also saw a mirage of Sagat on the tree that was 2 feet away. It was time...Dan could feel it. He brought his hand forward shouting "Gadou-ken!" The fireball went forward with a lot of speed. It continued to move until it hit the tree that Dan had chosen. The tree blew up into a million pieces, and bright light was all around the forest. Animals were running away, for they thought that a storm was coming. But it wasn't a storm... It was only Dan Hibiki, starting to unlock his full power.

"Yatta ze! Oyajji!!!" (I did it! Father!)

Dan was filled with so much joy. He had managed to throw his best Gadouken yet! Dan knew that he was ready to get the respect that he deserved. He first had an old score to settle with a certain nemesis that took away his father. Sagat. Dan couldn't wait to teach Sagat a thing or too...Then, he would challenge Ryu. And he would finally get his recognition.

Dan gathered up his belongings. He started to head back into the city. He needed to rest up, and buy a ticket to Thailland.

"Sagat, I'm coming for you. I hope you are ready..."
