Reminicences of Love Ch. 3
By Vicky
Light yet continuos rain fell upon the city. All living things scurried about
to protect themselves. The usually crowded and noisy streets were now empty,
except for a few citizens who ran through the puddles of water, covering their
heads with newspapers or briefcases. Evel sat in front of a window, admiring
the peaceful world beneath his apartment. He pushed his hair back and sighed
against the glass, creating a small stain of moisture on it. He busily stared
at the small droplets cascading down his window. He followed one of the
raindrops with his emerald eyes and traced its path with one finger. Evel
sighed once again, leaning his back against a chair and closed his eyes. In
moments like this he found it pleasurable to reminisce about old times…
-Flashback-
A slow, steady heartbeat pulsed under his cheek. Gentle fingers ruffled his
hair. He smiled at the feeling. Although he wanted he couldn't quite open his
eyes. So instead he reached for one of the soft, feminine hands and kissed it
lovingly. He then reached to caress the young woman's cheek, but found wetness
there. Startled, he sleepily rubbed his eyes and looked up at the girl.
"Hey Cammy, is something wrong?"
Cammy shook her head no.
"You sure?"
Cammy nodded and smiled faintly as Evel dug his face into her hair and
inhaled its pleasant aroma. Through the corner of his eye he saw Cammy's
Shadaloo uniform. Concern crept into his features and it did not go unnoticed
by Cammy.
"I leave for Greece today"
"I wish I could come with you"
"You have other things to take care of, Evel"
Evel reluctantly nodded in agreement, then grinned.
"But don't be surprised if I pay you a visit"
Cammy giggled softly as she hugged Evel. She slowly got out of bed and got
dressed. Evel studied her closely. What could she be thinking? Will she be all
right? He silently prayed that she returned to his arms safely.
With a light kiss on Evel's lips, Cammy bid her goodbye to the young man
wondering if their short affair would survive what was to come…
-End of Flashback-
A loud crack of thunder awoke Evel from his trance. He looked out his window
again to see that the rain had intensified. Lighting illuminated the dark city
sky every so often. The rain battered the earth mercilessly, punishing it for
reasons unknown. Water pummeled the dark streets, cascading endlessly.

Cammy looked out a window of the mansion she would call home for the next
few weeks. She was looking at nothing really. Her blue eyes were fixed on her
hands as she busily played with her fingers. Her superiors had been there
earlier and had found no trace of the skillful assassin that had come into the
Johnson's Estate. Cammy had the feeling she knew who this man was. He even
triggered a flashback, but she couldn't quite figure it out. She did not
mention his name, or what she thought his name was. This is something she has
to figure out herself.
A soft knock was heard on the door. Cammy slowly turned around and addressed
the person to come in. The door slowly opened and Megan walked in. Cammy was a
bit surprised at her visit.
"What are you doing up? It's almost two thirty in the morning
Megan."
"I couldn't sleep." Megan took a deep breath. " I wanted to
apologize. I wasn't exactly hospitable when you arrived this evening."
Cammy smiled. "You don't have to apologize."
Megan sat on the bed.
"Yes, I do" Megan answered smiling slightly.
"And not only for that…"
Cammy raised an eyebrow in anticipation.
"I looked through your things earlier…"
"What?" Cammy moved closer to the young girl.
"I know! But please let me finish"
The agent sat down and motioned Megan to continue.
"I found what looked like those tracking devices on TV. I wasn't sure
at first. Don't know a lot about these those things"
She paused briefly, then continued.
"When that man grabbed me I just placed it on the back of his shirt.
Heh heh, I thought he would pass out or something but nothing happened."
Cammy quickly got up and opened a laptop computer on the bed. Megan watched
as the English woman hit some unknown keys on the computer.
"Are you mad at me Miss White, because I'm…"
The teenager's voice trailed off when she heard a steady beeping sound
emitting from the laptop. Cammy looked up and smirked.
"Looks like we found our intruder luv."

The storm clouds had slowly dispersed, yet darkness roamed on the moonless
sky. Few stars dared appear in such an obscure and gloomy night. The rain had
stopped for the night. The soft puddles and drops of water that remained
glistened under the dim streetlights. It was quiet, too quiet, as if Death
himself had decided to roam freely tonight. True or not, for some reason
everyone had decided to stay indoors. Silence roam the alleys, and it was the
perfect time for the wild beast to pounce on its prey…
The rusty fire escape staircase creaked under the slow steady strides of six
soldiers. Their mission was quite simple, to bring their target in, if not
safe, at least alive and breathing. They were completely dressed in black; the
darkness concealed them. Still, one of them stood out from the rest of the
group. Their leader of course; he held his position with dignity and great
authority. His followers respected him, and feared him. Those who were close to
him, in what could be known as closeness to such a man, knew he was a madman, a
psychopath out for blood. His insane mentality could be compared with the one
of his Lord…almost.
The leader stopped in his tracks, spoke a few words into a radio then
motioned his colleagues to continue. Take a closer look at this man, and you
could see through the slits of his mask his insane eyes, cold blue, as cold as
ice and as cold as his heart. Many victims had fallen under his fist, or claw
in this case. Tonight was going to be but only one more.

"Don't touch that Megan!" Cammy almost yelled at the girl, who was
playing with a small revolver she had found in Cammy's car. Megan quickly put
it away, not wanting to anger her new friend.
Cammy drove silently. Neither she nor Megan muttered another word. Cammy new
it was wrong to bring her along. She would be in a lot of trouble if the girl's
parents and her superiors found out. Plus she couldn't live with herself with
anything happened to the girl.
She glanced at Megan several times. Although living in such a restricted
household, the teenager was rebellious, independent and smart, which was not
always a good thing. Although intelligent, Megan was not streetwise, and
obviously could not survive one night out alone.
Cammy smiled inwardly. The teenager somehow reminder her of herself even if
Cammy hadn't exactly had what one would call a normal life. Instead she
reminded Cammy of what she could have been if not for life's unfair
circumstances.
Megan just sat there staring out the window into the night. Lots of thoughts
and emotions were racing through her mind, but she was pretty good at hiding
them. She wanted to find the man that had attacked her. She didn't want her
parents to live in fear for her or her little brother and sister anymore. Even
though she had everything she could ever need she felt as if her life wasn't
normal. Moving constantly and fleeing assassins was just not her definition of
normal. It wasn't her fault she was born wealthy and that her father held
certain power in the known world. She had everything she needed, but not
everything that she wanted. More than anything she wanted freedom. She wanted
to live, to see the world. She wanted an adventure somewhere. She looked at
Cammy for a second.
"Maybe I just found the freedom I was looking for" Although
optimistic, Megan felt scared. Her hands trembled with the thought of what was
to come…
The car finally came to a stop a block away from the location that Cammy had
pinpointed. As if synchronized, both Cammy and Megan took a deep breath at the
same time.
"You stay here." Cammy ordered the girl.
"But you can't go alone"
"Oh yes I can." She pointed at Megan with her finger.
"Don't move"
Cammy exited the car and began walking toward the apartment building a block
away. Megan didn't take her eyes off the English agent and when she thought
Cammy was far away enough, she stepped out of the car and followed her quietly.
*****
Evel sat quietly in his apartment. He hadn't got any sleep. He just couldn't
sleep. Feelings he had suppressed for so long had resurfaced. He had been thinking
this over and over again. The young man smiled slightly as he came to a
decision.
"I'll find you Cammy. And we will be together again, this time for
good."
With his heart at ease he closed his eyes, resting them for the first time
in a few hours. Just when he was about to dose a off, a soft sound awakened
him. It was nothing really, totally insignificant, but for reasons unknown to
him, he became alert. He got up from the couch, turned on a small desk lamp and
walked to the window.
The window crashed open. Small particles of glass flew in all directions,
some of them cutting Evel's skin. He had no time to react. In a fraction of a
second, whomever or whatever had broken through his window was beating on him
without mercy with a series of punches and kicks to his torso and face.
Evel crashed against a hardly decorated wall. He saw another punched aimed
at his face and this time he had time to dodge it. He rolled onto the ground,
only to greeted by another row of kicks.
His attacker stopped the beating for a minute. Evel grabbed his stomach in
pain and struggled to see clearly. He looked up, and there was no mistake about
it. Through blurry eyes he recognized that white mask and the steal claw…
"Vega…" His voice only came out as a loud whisper.
"Ya veo que todavía te acuerdas…(I see you still remember)"
"You son of a…OOFFFF" Evel's insult was cut off with a fierce kick
to the face.
"You were lucky you know. Not many escape Shadaloo alive. You are a
mistake Lord Bison is willing to fix"
Evel's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Bison is dead," He said coldly.
"Ah, I get that a lot. No, the General is very much alive. No te
preocupes muchacho (don't worry boy). He doesn't plan to kill you…yet."
With a growl, Evel used his remaining strength to aim a few punches at
Vega's torso. It was his turn to attack. Vega easily blocked the blows and
countered with his claw. Evel was smashed into a wall again.
"You are pathetic" If Vega wouldn't have been wearing a mask, he
would have spat into Evel's face. Of course the exact opposite happened. Still,
Vega had the advantage. Evel was smashed against a table. With a soft groan he
jumped out of the way of Vega's claw, which got stuck on the wooden table for a
few seconds.
Vega growled.
"¡Basta de juegos! (Enough games!) Get him!" In the blink of an
eye, five Shadaloo soldiers jumped out of nowhere and tackled Evel to the
floor. He tried to wrestle himself free but his attempts were in vain.
"No! I won't go back! I won't!" His cry was desperate. It was a
call for the help that he knew would never come.
Vega chuckled evilly as one of the soldiers stuck a needle into Evel's neck,
making him pass out immediately.

Cammy walked swiftly through the empty halls of the apartment building. She
heard noises from one of the rooms and decided to get there quickly, but with
caution. She reached the room she was looking for and without hesitation kicked
the door open.
The apartment was a mess. She carefully entered and flicked the light switch
on. She blinked several times to adjust to the light. She desperately sighed
when she saw the remains of a battle.
"I'm too late"
"Whoa, what happened here?"
Cammy turned around and saw Megan standing in the doorway. She was curiously
looking at the apartment.
"What are you doing here? I thought I told you to stay in the
car!"
Megan shrugged. Cammy knew that the danger was gone, so she quickly
investigated the room. She had to find traces of the person who had done this,
but it seemed that her luck was close to nothing.
"Heh, looks like a wild cat did this" Megan was examining what
remained of a small wooden table.
Cammy walked to the girl and ran her hand across the deep claw mark on the
table.
"No, not a wild cat, but a monster…"
